I met Christine 2 years ago at a photography workshop in California when we were all walking back to our cabins in the dark, we shared a flashlight - small world when we both realized we were from Wisconsin. From that point we started an online friendship, passed weddings back and forth when the other one wasn't available. So when her and Justin made the move to Madison, I was excited to have them here! When we planned to do a shoot we decided the best way to welcome these two to Madison is to do a little walking around this lovely little place they now call home -- plus they are both super cute and fun.
Madison is filled with wonderful people and Jenny & Bobby are two of those gems. I had the chance to meet these two last summer for coffee to chat wedding and then again at their dear friends Maddie and Bret's wedding (another pair of wonderful people) and we all hit it off - So when these two wanted me to document their day, I got really excited. These two were so much fun during their engagement session last fall and since then I couldn't wait to be apart of their day. Their wedding was wonderful, I think I cried a total of 10 times, these two are so filled with love for each other and their family and friends are all so wonderful and supportive and really fun people. If I could, I would do this day all over again because it was really just a perfect day.Â
My new favorite thing is brunch weddings! Chris and Kathryn got married in the Olbrich Gardens at 10am followed by amazing breakfast food, coffee and Bloody Mary's -- a perfect way to start a Saturday!
Perfect venue, perfect weather, amazing wedding party, adorable flower girl (first thing she said to me as I walked up to the house “There are only 2 people that can wear white to a wedding that that is the bride and the flower girl†— too cute) and the loveliest couple. Man, Joe and Kristin are so wonderful and they had such a beautiful wedding from the details to the vows — they totally nailed it and I really like them.
I've known Amy and Dan for about 14 years now, I watched these two fall in love, I stood up in their wedding and now I get to see them become parents and I am so beyond happy for these two and their little girl to come. A few weeks ago I met them in their home, had a meal and then went for a walk to do a little session of these beautiful two.
Alison & Jeremy met on a plane on their way to Bolivia, after that moment they became friends and began traveling together and after awhile and many adventures together they started to date. Alison and Jeremy International Teachers and this job has taken them all over the world -- leading up to the wedding they were living in Morocco (i know, i love them too). Their wedding day felt like them, many countries were represented in style and food, their vows spoke of adventure for life and many people came from all over the world to witness these two sad "I do" -- I am so beyond grateful that I got to meet these two and spend the day documenting their love.
These two, just wow, I think a few tears came to my eyes just watching these two through my camera, the comfort and love these two have for each other is so beautiful, I really didn't want to stop photographing them. With Andrea currently living and working in the Netherlands it was a bit tricky to plan an engagement session before their August wedding, it was her last visit before the wedding and we spent a sunset together and I am so glad we did!
A few weeks ago I had the opportunity to meet Linsey & Steven's daughter, Elliot. I spent a few hours with them in their ridiculously beautiful home as they spent the day together.
Sunday July 3rd, at 10:00 AM these two exchanged vows that left everyone in the room with tears in their eyes -- a beautiful ceremony followed by a wonderful brunch and epic afternoon dance party.
Gates of Heaven has been one of my favorite places in Madison since my college days. My first 3 years living here, I got to vote there, the band I play in along with many others in town had the first Wintersong there, and I've witnessed a few beautiful, intimate weddings there - Alex and Niels' included. A beautiful ceremony done by their dear friend and an epic high five to seal the marriage deal. Then Alex and Niels picked another favorite place of mine for their party, The Children's Museum, where adults get to be kids all night long -- cocktail party on the beautiful rooftop followed by giant slides, a hamster wheel and a dance party --- basically the best day ever.
Hayley and Andy are a force together, when I first met them to talk about their plans for their wedding, I felt connected to them instantly, their love for people is so apparent and their love for each other is ridiculous is the best way possible – all day at this wedding I kept feeling like I was so lucky to get to be the one to document this day. I showed up at this summer camp earlier in the day and everyone they love were setting up the wedding, they picked wild flowers and a group of friends were making center pieces and bouquets for the day, as another crew was making the dinning tent perfect. Dinner was made by the guests followed by speeches that brought everyone to laughter and then tears from a sisters love. Hearing the stories about Hayley & Andy made me feel lucky that I get to know these two humans. The community surrounding these two is a beautiful thing to witness and this day was pure perfection from start to finish.
On June 4th, 2016 Gabe and Maddy exchanged vows at the beautiful Olbrich Gardens in front of their loved ones and under the hot sun. We then celebrated these two and their love all together at the Monona Terrace over looking the lake -- this day was a good one for all.
I photographed Chloe & Mike's wedding in October of 2013 and since then, these two have relocated to Milwaukee, started new jobs and had a beautiful baby boy named Ace. Last week I had the opportunity to spend the morning in their lovely Bayview flat, documenting the life of this new addition.
A Saturday morning with the Copeland crew in their lovely home on the East Side of Madison.
A Sunday morning with the Vandenberg crew - starting with pour overs and a bacon and egg sandwich and going into time together. We spent just a few hours doing the things they love to do together, and I had a lovely time documenting a morning in the life of the Vandenbergs. I've known Samantha for over 15 years (crazy) so seeing her and Todd be parents to their adorable and amazing daughter, Marjorie is a treat.
Planning a wedding in Wisconsin in the middle of January can be risky, but Lauren and Jonathan had the perfect winter day to exchange their vows, celebrate with their friends and family and then hop on a plane to Barbados for a summer getaway a few days later. These two decided to have a small ceremony to keep it intimate and I loved that, and there wasn't a dry eye in that whole place - my goodness, their vows were so beautiful and witnessing these two say "I do" was a highlight of this day for me. After their ceremony shuttles full of guest pulled up and the party had begun.

I never really partake in the TBTs of the internet but on this cold winter Wisconsin afternoon I can't help but wander back to the day I spent in Joshua Tree National Park with my dear friends Janelle and Andrew back in October. I came into town to document a wedding but these two have been on my list of "I want to photograph" since they started dating years ago. So they drove down to Palm Springs from L.A and we took the beautiful drive out, did a little thrifting and made our way to a little slice of heaven.
Rachel and Josh get married on a Saturday and move to Japan on a Wednesday. With Josh being in the Navy and stationed in Japan these two have been apart for the last 6 months planning a wedding for his short visit for the holidays and sweeping away Rachel to live in Japan for the next 2 years. A day filled with mix emotions for all involved - a joyous celebration of two wonderful people exchanging vows paired together with a goodbye party - with 50 close friends and family to witness and celebrate these two, there was tears shed (me included) many laughs, hugs and dance moves shared -- from where I was standing, this was a perfect day.
Rachel and Josh, thank you for letting me be apart of this day, for braving the cold and letting me take your portraits in the bathroom (the walls were so pretty) perhaps I'll find myself in Japan, and if so, I'll be knocking on your door!
I find myself in January wandering back to August when Luke and I spent 10 days in Panama away from email and wedding edits. So today will be a little throw back to the images I took on that trip where we spend a few days exploring Panama City, then took a bus to Boquete for some coffee tours and hiking to then get a shuttle to a water taxi to Bocas Del Toro where we lived the island life for a few days, biking, swimming and not seeing a sloth- which was my one goal for this trip.
