Maddie and Bret got married underneath my favorite tree in Madison and I got to document it and now they have a sweet little one named Wren and a pup in their home and this summer I got to document them in their home. I always say this, but I really love staying connected with my wedding couples and I love when I get invited to photograph their lives.
A few weeks ago I met up with Whitney & Kyle to document their lovely soon-to-be new addition to their family. We drove out to Cambridge to go for a walk in the wood behind their good friends home, a peaceful way to capture such a beautiful moment in life. They had their little girl, Mavis a week after our shoot.
A few weeks ago we had our first warm & sunny winter day -- warmth, oh how I love that in Wisconsin warm in the winter is when it's over 35 degrees, but after a week of below zero, it really does feel like a heat wave. I spent this Wisconsin heat wave getting to know Maddie & Bret in their beautiful home and walking around Tenney Park and catching the sunset on the lake; a perfect afternoon. These lovely two will be getting married in August here in Madison and I am excited I get to be apart of that celebration.
Mads and Za contacted me just a few months ago about their small, no fuss backyard wedding that took place on August 9th in Oshkosh, WI. Mads and Za have only lived in Oshkosh for about a year, they moved from Boston when Za got a job teaching at UWO and within that year these two have built such a lovely community. Their neighbors helped cook food and decorate, people traveled from Norway, Boston and many other places -- it was the perfect small gathering of close friends and family to celebrate Mads and Za.
I first met Joleen & Brendan back in January to discuss the wedding and take their engagement photographs, it was the week before they moved to Washington D.C and it was about -10 degrees outside, so getting a chance to take their photograph on July 5th, a perfect summer day was wonderful. I arrived to the room with Joleen sitting in her beautiful flower crown with her brother and friend Joanna and everyone was so calm, I knew it was going to be a good day. Joleen & Brendan had a small guest list, a beautiful outdoor ceremony and the best party bus I have seen in all my years of wedding photography. They had lawn games, an amazing meal by Upstairs Downstairs  followed by an epic dance party. Â
On June 14th I got the chance to spend the day with Adria & Chris along with Adria's daughter, their family and friends at Olbrich Gardens and it was truly a wonderful celebration filled with sunshine, good food and lovely music. I have been able to get to know these two a little bit since they decided to book me for their wedding, we had a pretty awesome engagement session in their home & letterpress studio and Adria has done some pretty amazing graphic design work for me --we've been able to connect on many things and I really enjoy these two, their story and I had such a lovely time documenting their wedding day.
The other week I went into Thorps on Atwood to take some photographs for their website.
I did a shoot with the lovely Sandra the other week - the lighting was perfect and we had a lovely time. Styled by Chloe Helland.
Enjoy.
Teamed up with some friends and talented folks at ShopBop to do this shoot. Stylist: Bao Xiong

A few weeks ago I got together with my friends Jessica and Joseph to meet their daughter Dee Dee and catch up. I've Known Jessica and Joseph since the first week I moved to Madison, they both lived in my neighborhood and we would spend many late nights on the porch listening to records that would end in a dance party. I remember when Joey proposed, I remember their lovely wedding day and now, years later they have a little girl that I get spend time with and document her life .
I have been photographing the Johnson family images for the last 3 years and I am so happy that they are having a baby girl come July. I am so eager to meet her and to document her childhood, here is a collection from our shoot last week.
I decided I should follow the photographer blog trend a dedicate a post to my favorite Instagram images. I am so grateful for my life, I love the people I spend my days with and I love the work that I do. Instagram allows me to quickly document my day to day, something that I find is very important - I love being able to follow my friends all over this world to stay in touch with them visually - here is a collection of my beautiful life through the filters of instagram:
Friday I put on my polkadots, red lips and went over to the Gagnon's magical home for a tea party. We decided to do a shoot where we (the adults) had no influence, Nora had her cousin Nan over and they picked out their outfits and we allowed them to decide what to do and I documented the afternoon. Children are so comfortable in front of the camera, so I feel there is no need to pose them - just let them be kids and I'll document them.
